HAPPENING NOW
Between Columbia and Pike streets:
- Daytime work 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday; follow posted signs and signals for safe access through construction zones.
- Early morning work starting at 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday, continues at Pier 58.
- Nighttime work 7 PM to 6 AM, Monday night, June 5 through Friday morning, June 9 at Marion St.
- East sidewalk closure on Alaskan Way between Columbia and Marion streets.
- Full closure of Marion St between Alaskan Way and Western Ave to vehicles during overnight work, 7 PM to 6 AM, Monday night, June 5 through Friday morning, June 9.
- South sidewalk closure on Marion St between Alaskan Way and Western Ave continues.
- Shifting southbound lane closure on Alaskan Way between Madison and Pike streets, 9 AM to 3 PM, starting as early as Monday, June 5.
- Alternating sidewalk closures on east side of Western Ave and Seneca St intersection continues through Friday, June 9.
- Alaskan Way between Pike and Pine streets will be closed daily for Seattle Aquarium construction. Outside of work hours, there will be a single lane northbound between Pike and Pine streets. See other area projects below for more information.
Other area projects:
- Colman Dock Multimodal Terminal continues: Stay updated with rider alerts for information on additional exit closures. More information can be found on the Washington State Department of Transportation’s website.
- Extenet working on 5G pole installation between Madison and Spring streets: Extenet will be replacing a light pole with a 5G cell tower pole on the east side of Alaskan Way between Madison and Spring streets Tuesday, June 6 through Friday, June 9, 9 AM to 3 PM. Pedestrian detours will be in place around the work area. The east parking lane will be closed. PROJECTS IN THIS AREA
Alaskan Way Construction
The work zone on Alaskan Way has expanded to Pike Street. Similar to construction underway between S King and Marion streets, intersecting east/west streets will remain open and pedestrian access will be maintained. Businesses with mid-block vehicle driveways will be provided a route adjacent to the work zone. Activities include mobilizing equipment, locating utilities, surveying, delivering materials, breaking pavement for excavation and utility installation and striping and paving.
Pier 58
Pier removal was completed in February 2021. The rebuild is anticipated to begin in 2022 and take approximately two years to complete.

Marion Street Bridge
Construction of the new pedestrian bridge to provide a direct connection between First Ave and Colman Dock on Marion St began in July 2022.
